I bought the TVee 20 without realizing that it did not have an optical connection.

4 Works great for my Vizio tv and Boston Acoustics TVee 20 I bought this converter to connect my VIZIO E370VA 37-inch Full HD 1080p LCD HDTV to my Boston Acoustics TVee Powered Soundbar Speaker System with Wireless Subwoofer (Black). Not having verified the accuracy of what the Gefen tech told me, at least I want to give buyers a "heads-up" about the product. The solution: Gefen model GTV-DD-2-AA, slightly more expensive, which processes any/all digital audio signals. In other words, it will work with a digital non-high def signal, but not with a channel broadcasting high def with 5.1 surround sound. No because high def channels broadcast audio in 5.1, which this converter is incapable of processing. 5 Caution Received this item as satisfactorily as possible, and promptly, but before installing it (for a neighbor's high def TV), I called the techs at Gefen to be certain it would operate properly for this application. So now, I can walk around the classroom using my iphone or ipad and show or hear almost anything that is on my iphone (movies, music, app displays, internet access) without being restricted by wires like I used to be and the kids can see and hear it all on the Smart Board.I've only found one app that doesn't seem to work this way, but it doesn't seem to have anything to do with this device. Then using RCA cables from this device, I connect to the Smart Board. Now I plug in a digital optical cable into the that connection on the Apple TV and the other end into this device. Talked to lots of folks at the Apple stores as well as read a lot online before I finally found this device.
I quickly found I could use an HDMI to VGA connector to get the video working through an Apple TV (mine is the third generation Apple TV). Works with Apple TV and Smart Board At school we have a large screen "Smart Board" but it doesn't have an HDMI connector.
